  I used to purchase KCycles, very first version too, and did so for several early versions but I stopped doing that a year or so ago. The problem for me is the limited discount period. 20% for a couple of months? So what did I do wrong the other 80% of the time? So I haven't re-purchased for over a year now, maybe longer (I can't remember, don't even care...), and frankly, just happen to stumble across it today looking at something else and thought, why not leave a poor rating? So, I did. One star. Happy?

  Their is always an upgrade discount currently at 25% off and their are multiple sales during the year which are email to all current customers.

  Thanks for supporting Apple Silicone! Updates follow the official Blender release cycle within a few days. Render quality and speed is improved compared to standard Blender. I use it every day so for me, it is a great value.

  I'm genuinely surprised at how well K-Cycles runs on my old 1060 - I can only imagine what it would be like if I weren't cheap as can be and updated it! But the whole thing is fantastic, and I love it. It installed seamlessly, and as far as I can tell, isn't having any issues with anything else I've got installed in Blender. Cut render times down to a fifth of what they were on the project I'm currently working on. Also, the Ultra Lighting system is fantastic for organization and efficiency, and the built-in Post FX are intuitive and easy to use in a way that the compositor has never been for me. Will definitely be back for an updated version in 2023!

  I WANT TO MAKE THIS CLEAR. I went to blender artists, I saw multiple posts people asking about this sussscription heist when I was researching for just one leap of purchase that I could afford during a sale...nothing. he said nothing. I just assumed it wasn't even a question. NO. who would do that for such a basic renderer.
  WELL I DIDNT SEE IT COMING IT IS NOT CLEAR AT ALL QWHAT WE WERE GETTING INTO.

  It Is not exactly a subscription, since K-Cycles will always work and available for download. What stops are the updates and new features at the end of the year. It is clearly states on your right where the product is selected with the price and the product name has the year. It's also mention in the FAQ section. It is has never being hidden and questions about it answer truthfully.

  K-Cycles is not an add-on is a custom blender build and I believe the only one in Blender Market. Add-ons requires very little or no work to update, since blender python API has small changes between blender version updates. Even then many less popular add-ons stop being updated and don't work anymore due to low new sales and the developer can't work for free.

  K-Cycles custom builds add features not possible with add-ons. The update requires a lot of work their are about 1000 source code changes each new blender version that need to be integrated into K-Cycles. Builds for each platform Windows, Linux and Mac plus the cost of separate hardware. In addition the work of adding new features and support. Just look at my youtube channels and check all the features I added this year.

  This customer after this post got quick support and help through Blender Market "Ask a Question". The discord link for K-Cycles channels should be working, but it is not official support.

  The price is an annual plan I was not aware of that when I ordered the product in November 2021 (I paid 36$, I don't remember if it was a discount price). Now if I want to get the 2022 version I have to pay once again 44$ (includes 20% OFF for people who purshased 2021 version). This should have been clearly mentionned in big red characters at the beginning of the product description. I would have been aware that when I was purshasing the 2021 version, I will have to pay once again and for a higher price every futur years. Thus I would not have ordered the product and try to find another addon because I'm not sure that there is any other addon on blender market for which customers have to pay every year, this is definetely an annual plan business model.

  1. K-Cycles is not an add-on it is a custom build offering features not possible with a regular add-on. K-Cycles is the only custom build product in Blender Market. Custom build requires considerable more work to update and maintain with each blender version and platform Windows and Linux.
  2. It clearly states that updates are free until the end of the year on your right where the product is selected by the price and also in the FAQ.

  K-Cycles is integral to my workflow where I create long animations on a monthly basis. I can render beautiful Cycles frames at a high quality while gaining significant frame time savings of around 10s-20s (which is around 40% of my normal Cycles render time).

  I have to say that this product is perfect even when it is not actually add-on. In new version 3.2 coming "ultra lighting" is game changer for my needs (now it is in beta). Regarding payment every year for upgrade, well if the K-Cycle brings me every year something useful like "ultra lighting" it is more than acceptable.
