Fiber Layer

by Blender Easy in Modifier Setups

This Modifier for Blender allows you to generate fibers on the surface of an object. This unique tool is probably the only way you can create realistic sponges, cotton, lines, strands and webs following the shape of an object

The strands are generated using the mesh UV, it's very important that it has good UV's and mesh topology.

It allows you to apply the effect to curves, so you can generate an insane amount of strands without using too much memory.

To use that you just need to Append the "FiberLayer.blend" that you just downloaded to your scene, selecting the "FIBERLAYER" inside the "NodeTree" folder.

After that, (Add>>Curve>>Empty Hair) to an object and with this selected,

go to the Modifiers tab and add a Geometry Nodes to it.

Load the "FIBERLAYER" to it.

Now you just need to load your Object to shape the generated fibers and set the UV name from this mesh.

Increase the density and the thickness and play with the other settings.

You can follow the video above to learn more on how to use it.
