Downscale Texture
the easy way to save RAM !!!
the easy way to save RAM !!!
EASY USE
You would like to kitbash assets quickly into one huge scene,
and hit render only to read, that you gpu ran out of memory?
Now you can downscale all your textures in order to reduce memory with the click of a button.
set maximum size for the biggest textures,
and lowest size for the smallest textures.
All textures will be downscaled,
according to the range you set.
The extrapolate option lets you handle images, with sizes outside the set range.
This way you wont have to check for the biggest and smallest texture in your scene, but intuitively set a "downscale behaviour".
With the "use camera distance" option, you can scale your textures, dependent on the distance to the camera, for even more efficiency.
"it's a cheap and simple solution to a big issue!"

About the Creator:
I am a 3D artist in the advertising & television industry for 27 years.
While working on projects and teaching animation at design college since 1998, i studied physics at the university of Vienna. That equipped me with a solid toolset of math to use in 3D workflows.
I started programming Blender add-ons and noding vector operations into shaders around 2012.
I love how Blender and Cycles offer a lot of opportunities to speed up rendering and fake depth into surfaces in many ways.
