Deepgrass is your archive for grass-, meadow-, lawn-, bushes- surfaceshaders for landscapes.
It uses heavy math to calculate fences of grass on a flat surface. This way grassblades stand upright along the global z axis, even when the landscape-mesh is seen from the side.
A set of hires textures come with the pack to enable closeups and total shots of landscapes.
no Particles, no addon, you only need this shader.
save RAM, save rendertime, save money.
Shading a lowpoly surface instead of millions of individual blades is now possible. Several hundred nodes shrink the memory down to two textures, and speed up render times.
This is perfect for architecture rendering and envionment design, walkthrough animations and all applications where you need grass but wont fly through it like a bug, but rather stay above the grass tips.
easy to setup
simple parameters give you control
easy to adapt
Textures are easily modified and can be swapped quickly.
shading two textures is much faster than shdaing millions of different grassblades.
wheres the downside?
There is none for a camera above the surface.
You may want to intersect objects into the meadow, so that they are partially covered by grass.
Then simply use a transparent grass-layer on top of your landscape surface.
you can stack them to add more variance.
This mapping technique is unique and developed especially for shading a meadow and grass.
