      This is a great tool based on Animation Nodes. Creating particle trails is surprisingly difficult with the default Blendr tools.

      The author was very helpful as well. When I bought the product it only worked for 2.79 but after a support request, he quickly updated it for 2.8.

      The only weakness of this setup is performance. While you can create a lot of trails it may take a while to bake them and viewport performance may suffer. However, this is an issue with AN itself (due to being single-core) and not with the product. So I am happy to give this little but very useful took 5 stars.
