Bio-Art Blender
Most of the functionalities of the add-on can be used for production. However, the importer uses 3 functionalities from open-source PyMOL. There is a commercial distribution of PyMOL that can only be used for non-commercial purposes. It is up to you to install the appropriate PyMOL distribution depending on your purposes.
You get a series of operators that make the process of creating molecular and cellular visualizations much faster. The add-on is true to scale therefore, any imported object is designed to already match the proportions found in nature. It also includes a library of 14 PBR materials, that can be applied to all the selected objects as well as an automatic line-art. It also includes a cartoon model of DNA and RNA with colored basis pairs that were designed to work with subdivisions and an array modifier. It also includes 6 blend files that were used to create the images seen in the gallery and the two textures used to generate the spinodal and domain distribution of the lipids in the membranes.
Yes, most of the operators work for any object. So you can use it to apply materials and line-art to a large selection of objects. You can also use to for example to scatter 50 different objects on top of the selected object so that every single object gets individual properties that can be controlled with sliders. You could also generate holes or masks on meshes based on other scattered objects. You can also use the generate assembly operator to create objects with the symmetries seen in viruses, etc. (This add-on was designed with the idea of biological visualizations and some of the features may fail outside of what it was designed to work with.)
This add-on was designed to work with Blender 2.93 and works with any 2.93.x release.
If you buy the add-on, you will also get a compatible 3.0 version once Blender and the add-on are updated. This version will have the same features as the version you bought. If the add-on is updated by including new features and functionalities then the upgrade to the new versions will have a monetary cost.
