Victorian Chandelier
Illustrated documentation is included.
Description:
A model of an antique Victorian gas chandelier of brass construction. The brass shows a light patina consistent with use. The model features fluted brass decorations, an acorn drop finial and five scroll arms which end with ruffled rim glass shades each containing a gas mantle for illumination. This type of chandelier was made in about 1890. The model would look good in any period or contemporary scene and can be illuminated for low light or night conditions. It is of sufficient detail that it will render well in close-up.
Usage:
The model is contained in a single .blend file with all textures/images/materials packed inside. To use it in your scene, you can append it as follows:
• Go to the File Menu and pull down to Append
• Find the “Victorian_Chandelier.blend” file and Double Click on it.
• Double Click on the Collection icon.
• Select the “Append_Victorian_Chandelier” collection and Click Append
Note that the model components are all parented to a master Empty Item represented by the large labeled axis. You can move or rotate the Empty to adjust the location and orientation of the model.
Illumination: By default the gas mantles are deactivated in the Outliner and will not show up in the 3D viewport or in a render. To activate the lighting click the checkbox for the Lights Collection. To increase or decrease the intensity of the lights, select one of the mantle objects in the Lights Collection and go to the Material Properties tab. Adjust the strength up or down as desired. Optionally, the color of the light can be adjusted here as well.
Technical:
The Victorian Chandelier was modeled in Blender 3.1. It uses PBR and emission shaders.
Dimensions: Height 45” (114.3 cm) Diameter Max. 35.2” (89.4 cm)
Vertex Count: 29,216
Face Count: 34,458
Textures: 3K PBR
Subdivision modifiers are used on some of the components to make the rendered result smoother. These subdivision modifiers will display when rendered, but are not currently set to display in the 3D viewport. They can be enabled by clicking on the viewport icon in the modifier properties tab for each part.
Images were rendered in Cycles. All materials work in Eevee as well. If rendering in Eevee you will need to enable Screen Space Reflections in the Render Properties tab. Check Screen Space Reflections and expand this and check Refraction as well.
