Plane Tree Collection is an intuitive way to create ultra low poly forests or scenes with lot of trees. Perfect for still images and works very well for animations using limited camera angles.

What you will get:

15 photorealistic plane trees. They aren't just images you'd find online. They have generated normal maps which will create a fake 3D look. Light is dynamically reacting to the trees, creating an illusion, they are 3D. If you rotate an HDRI with sunlight, or any lamps, the trees will react as if they were 3D.

1.) All trees have one specific normal map generated for them, and one base volume normal map that is mixed with the specific normal map unique to the tree.

2.) They have dynamic translucency so if the sun is shining from behind, they will have a realistic look too. Like this:

3.) All this is thanks to a custom shader that is included with all the trees. You don't have to set anything up in the materials/shaders as they work just fine out of the box.

4.) Works in both Eevee and Cycles. This should also work in game engines as long as they have the support to correctly display normal maps on planes.

5.) How to get the most out of the trees

They work the best if he sun shines from behind or right at the trees. Shadows will look unrealistic if the sun shines from the direction of the edge of the planes as they are still just cut out textures on planes. The foliage will look good from most angles of sunlight.

6.) The material for the trees:

Custom normal map has two types of output. By default it is set up so all the outputs are the same but in same scenes/scenarios, using the yellow output to control the normal map might enhance the 3D effect.

If you want to try out the 2nd normal map method, just put the vombine RGB output into the normal translucency output (after you tabbed into the custom normal map shader).

7.) Texture  resolution: all textures resolution is 2500x2500
