Speedometer
Have you ever wondered how fast your object is traveling? Maybe you are doing previs and your supervisor asks you, how fast is that car going? or How fast is that person running? Then you panic as you try to figure it out yourself and realize that the math and physics lesson you ignored in class was useful after all and fall into an existential crisis... IS THIS YOU!?? Well, fear no more. Allow me to introduce you to Speedomator.
It is a one-stop addon. It's a very simple and handy tool for any animators who need to figure out exactly how fast their object is going at any given frame.
Now all you need to do is:
Select an animated object, and hit calculate speed. And you will get a text object to appear near your selected object with the result. You can even adjust the frame span to get an average speed across the span of the frames that you pick.
Known limitations:
Sometimes it generates a result of Zero. This is due to the object's relationship being a bit more complicated than one can anticipate.
- The quick solution is to manually bake the animation of the object until you can see visible keyframes on the timeline when this object is selected.
Current Future Features Update Wish List:
Different Units Options, Live Updates Per Frame, and more!
