Procedural Wire Mesh Type 7

by Andrea Ciani in Modifier Setups

This is the type 7, the penultimate of the series of wire netting products i made in Blender with Geometry nodes.

Dedicated studies in math to get this result.

Before creating this products i searched many types of wire netting on internet to be sure to cover almost all the types used in the standard industries.
If you are interested you can find the other types on my profile with also the BUNDLE VERSION!!!
Many other products will be uploaded for you!

Features

You'll be able to manage these parameters in the Geometry nodes:

  • Height: the height of the grid
  • Width: the width of the grid
  • Radius: the radius of the profiles of the curves
  • Freq.: the number of holes you need distributed on the entire height of the grid (the hole height changes if you change the height of the grid)
  • Amplitude: the size in width of the holes (the hole width doesn't change if you change the width of the grid
  • Detail: the number of "waved waves" you need for your pattern. Some industries use them
  • UV (output property name): you can use this in the shading editor

Uses

To use this node in your project you can just use the downloaded file as is or open your project, use the Append menù of Blender, selecting this file, then Object and then Wire netting.

Tips

If you want to deform this kind of object in your project not use the Shrinkwrap modifier but i suggest you to add a Lattice deform or Simple Deform modifiers after the Geometry Nodes modifier.
In the shader editor you can use the "UV" named attribute to access to the axis components if you need to apply some dust to the bottom for example (using a separate XYZ node and a map range node used to mix the factor o a mix shader node).

Tutorial

If you want to learn how i made it check the video below, have fun and if you like what i'm doing please subscribe on my YT channel checking the bell icon to be notified on the new posted videos! :-)
Warning: The file you download from Blender Market doesn't contain the animation of the video tutorial.
