This is the best plugin ever made for Blender. As soon as the ray portal node was introduced I dreamed someone would make something like this. To have all these effects be actually happening in the light rays is amazing and such a great way to get closer to photo-realism.

One feature that would be amazing to somehow implement would be film grain - especially for videos.

Another would be star glows on hard highlights. Clients are always asking for that look for product stuff now days.

One last suggestion would be lens flares.

So excited to use this plugin and its future updates! Thank you so much for creating it.

      Thank you!
Film grain would be cool to have, maybe its possible to emulate analog film with some noise patterns, I will do some tests on it!

The Glare emulation will add a star shape on hard highlights, but it will introduce a lot of halation and add a lot of extra noise, so it might be best to do that in comp.

Lens flares is a bit out of scope for this project. But feel free to discuss it in the forum(link in the documentation section) :)

If you are looking for total control look no further. I was amazed at all the adjustments that are available with Lens Sim. Some are way over my head but it shows the amount of care and effort that went into making this.

One feature I would like to see, and maybe it's in there somewhere, is a slider for manual focus.

I highly recommend this! It is truly amazing!

Thanks Michelle! You can change the Focus Mode(located in the main panel right below the F-Stop) to Manual if you want to have full control over the sensor position and rack focus(anamorphic lenses), there is also a focusing screen button(on the right) you can enable to make focusing a bit easier ;)

We've tried several add-ons in the past, but Lens Sim stands out for its accuracy and ease of use. If you’re looking for an add-on that helps you perfect your work and gives you a realistic lens simulation, don’t hesitate to get it. It’s a fantastic investment that we wholeheartedly recommend!

From the moment we started using it, we noticed a significant improvement in the quality of our renders. The ability to simulate real-world lens effects, like bokeh and chromatic aberration, has added an incredible level of realism to our scenes. The intuitive interface made it so easy to integrate into our workflow, and we were up and running in no time. Whether we're working on product visualizations or cinematic scenes, this tool has been a game-changer.

Overall, Lens Sim delivers exactly what it promises and more. It has quickly become an essential part of our toolkit, and we can't imagine working without it. Highly recommended for anyone serious about improving the visual quality of their renders!

    Hey,
I like the addon and the functions, but the addon got really slow with their slider and in the viewport in general. I tried a lot and now I found out how to fix it in my situation:

I had two viewports open 1 for camera view and one for the scene-layout. When I closed the second viewport the hole addon is smooth and superdupergreat again. Maybe some of you has the same problem and maybe a thing to look into.

    great addon
    Cheers

A few years ago I started mainly using Blender. Before in Cinema 4D and 3DSMax with render engines such as Octane and Corona I had full controll of the physically acurate camera and lens setting. From the first day of working in Blender this is a feature that really lacked in that software. Finally after years of waiting it's finally here! I can't put into words how excited I am to be using this addon, it's so well crafter and gives so much control and fine tuning like no other engine/software/plugin. You sir did some amazing work, I can't recomend this addon enough!

This plugin goes deep (if you want it to). This is just what I needed to make my 3D renders look more realistic for a client project that mixed photography with 3D renders.

Being able render frames that look so similar to shooting through actual vintage glass in insane. Can't wait until people start sharing the lenses they make with this add-on.

Thank you Oliver! Me too, I hope we will be able to implement a large database that can be used in blender :)
