Low Resolution Male Face: African American

For many years we have been creating digital doubles for video games, from “Grand Theft Auto” to “Medal of Honor”, “Tomb Raider” and “Hitman”, and continue to do so. The same techniques we used to generate those video game models we have now used to create this product, from the scanning equipment to the meticulous cleanup and retopology process.

To create this man’s 3D head scan we used our brand new custom built photogrammetry system. We then cleaned up any scanning artifacts such as noise and missing geometry and retopologized it using our base mesh. During this process we morph an existing optimized model to the very dense and unstructured surface of the scan. This extra step allows you to focus on rigging and animating while saving you valuable time and effort. All models using this base mesh have corresponding point-orders and texture coordinates. This ensures the easy integration of multiple head scans into your application, as is common with most video games.

The model contains a mouth cavity where teeth and tongue geometry can be placed. The eyes are part of the mesh and are structured in such a way that they can easily be moved inward to create a hollow space for separate eyeball geometry. The topology of the model is entirely symmetrical and contains only 4-sided polygons.

This model contains a color map, cavity map and normal map. Two normal maps are included: one generated inside Blender and one in Zbrush, both from the same high resolution model. All maps are 2K and in PNG format. For a more versatile version of this model check out http://3dfaces.net/product/male-head-01/ where you can download high resolution models, maps, etc.
