Flex Water

Install using the Blender Assets Browser feature

  • Move the downloaded .blend file to your assets folder.
  • Reload either Blender or your Asset Browser library.
  • If installed correctly, the asset will now be avaiable in the Assets Browser menu.

Alternatively, you can append the asset from the downloaded file.

Water color:
  • you can control the water color using the Tone parameter;
  • the Anisotropy parameter can be used to change the backward or forward scattering direction;
  • if the water color is not appearing as you expect, you probably messed up with the Anisotropy parameter, try to change it back to zero and see if this solves the issue.

Ripples:
  • you can control the size of the ripples using the Scale parameter;
  • to increase/decrease the nuance of the ripples, change the Base Depth and the Detail Depth parameters.

Turbidity:
  • you can control the amount of particles suspended/dissolved in the water using the Turbidity parameter.

Refraction:
  • you can control the angle of the refraction using the Refraction IOR parameter.

Fresnel:
  • the more parallel the view is to the water, the more the refraction will be seen and the less the reflection will be seen and vice versa. You can control the angle that this happens using the Fresnel IOR parameter.

Speed:
  • to speed up the water animation, decrease the Duration parameter;
  • to slow down the water animation, increase the Duration parameter.

Loops:
  • you have ways to make the ripples animation to start and end the same way, creating a looping effect. However, for this to happen, part of the control over the water animation speed is lost;
  • to make the looping effect work, set the Duration variable to the same as the total number of your animation frames (e.g. If your animation have 250 frames, set the Duration parameter to 250);
  • to speed up the animation during the loop without breaking it, you can increase the Loops parameter;
  • to slow down the animation during the loop without breaking it, you can decrease the Loops parameter or increase the Scale parameter.

Render:
  • always make sure the loop is working before rendering the animation;
  • you can check the preview of the animation in Eevee to make sure the loop is working correctly.
