Eevee Materials Override is one of the critical addons i have for working in a studio.
When moving between Blender and maya i need to make sure the materials stay applied and named correctly, but also batch override to check UVs or to set all objects to the same custom material named specifically for substance painter work, then return all the original materials. This is perfect for that. I haven't found another way of replacing and managing a large number of materials, then returning them to the original state. Can confirm it works in 4.x series and previous.

For a pretty simple feature at 5$ I'm very unsatisfied to how many bugs it contains.
Custom material override is full of bugs. Half of the time it doesn't update when hitting the custom material button, excluding materials works or doesn't. When trying to include them back in that won't work either.
Excludes random materials that aren't checked.
No explanation of what the addon does, what's the difference between material and object mode?
Would be nice to have some kind of notice that the addon is still executing in large scenes.
I'm wondering if I need to hit "clean" between every change I make, if not this is a bug.
For some reason the addon makes my scene a lot slower with overridden material to a point where I can't even edit anything anymore.
Objects randomly disappear, meaning they become transparent at certain angles when having a overridden material set (I'm using the default principled bsdf as an example).
Haven't even tested the addon to its fullest potential and already came to this conclusion.
Would love to see some improvements in the bugs, or maybe I'm doing something wrong that I'm not aware of. More information would be nice.
Definitely willing to change this rating after my issues have been resolved if that's possible.
If more information is needed from my side, please hit me up.

Hi!
Please contact me here via inbox or in Discord Korchiy#3738, specify what Blender version do you use and attach the sample scene describing your problems, and we can try to find a solution.

It's a great and needful add-on can be used for many purposes but the main one I think it's check the scene UVs without having to change one by one the materials.
The only problem I have found is that "Clean" function seems not to work well with the volumetric materials since it leaves the volumetric nodes connected to the surface sockets and the surface shader unconnected, messing up some materials.
Once is fixed, the addon y simply perfect.

Hello! Can you make a question here, and attach a problem file with which the clearing function does not work properly? I will try to check the problem

Hi there, awesome tool! only thing im missing is an option to override specific materials without having to exclude every other material.

Awesome addon. Allows me to easily check my uv islands on my model for texel density orientation etc. while still being able to keep the original materials on my meshes. Big thanks for making this!

Does exactly what it says, nicely laid out and easy to use.

This is great! the solution is quite easy but I had a hard time making a python script which would include actions in the shader editor. This is perfect since it works in all views and renders. So far the best alternative for not a having a UV checker overlay in Blender! Thanks!
