Welcome to Easy Lazy Unity! This Blender addon is designed to simplify your 3D modeling workflow by automating common tasks such as batch renaming, setting parent objects, and applying transforms. This documentation will guide you through the features, installation, and usage of the addon to ensure you get the most out of it.


Features

  1. Batch Rename

    • Easily rename multiple selected objects with a consistent naming convention.
    • Example: Rename objects to "Object.01", "Object.02", etc.
  2. Lazy Parent

    • Set one selected object as the parent of other selected objects.
    • Option to add an empty object as the parent.
  3. Apply Transforms

    • Apply location, rotation, and scale transforms to selected objects.
    • Option to apply transforms and set the origin to the center of mass.
  4. Recenter Objects

    • Recenter selected objects to the origin of the scene.
    • Reset the 3D cursor to the origin and adjust object origins accordingly.

Installation

  1. Download the Addon

    • Obtain the addon file from Blender Market or the provided download link.
  2. Install in Blender

    • Open Blender and navigate to Edit > Preferences.
    • Select the Add-ons tab and click Install....
    • Browse to the downloaded .zip file and click Install Add-on.
  3. Activate the Addon

    • In the Add-ons tab, search for "Easy Lazy Unity".
    • Check the box to activate the addon.

Usage

  1. Access the Addon

    • Once installed, you will find Easy Lazy Unity in the View3D Sidebar under the Easy Lazy Unity tab.
  2. Multi Rename

    • Enter the desired base name in the “New Name” field.
    • Select the objects you wish to rename.
    • Click the Rename Selected button to apply changes.
  3. Lazy Parent

    • Use the Parent Object field to select the desired parent object.
    • Select the objects you want to parent.
    • Click Set Parent to establish the parent-child relationship.
    • Alternatively, click Add Empty as Parent to create an empty object and set it as the parent.
  4. Apply Transforms

    • Select the objects you wish to modify.
    • Click Apply Transforms to apply location, rotation, and scale changes.
    • Use Apply Transforms & Set Origin to also set the origin to the center of mass.
  5. Recenter Objects

    • Select the objects you want to recenter.
    • Click Recenter Objects to move them to the origin and reset their origins.

Troubleshooting

  • Addon Not Appearing: Ensure the addon is activated in Blender’s Preferences. If issues persist, reinstall the addon.
  • Errors: Check Blender’s console for error messages and ensure compatibility with your Blender version.
