What is it?

AutoSmear is an addon that allows you to well, automatically smear objects! There are 2 methods of smearing, in the free version you will get the straight smears that have always been a part of AutoSmear, just with some more stability/robustness thanks to simulation nodes. If you get the full version, you will get the completely new node group that has curved smears and duplicates. You also get some quality of life additions like cleanup tools and a reset smear button which are in the tools section of the n panel. Patch Notes (V2.2):

• Stability and performance of the Full Smear Group has been improved

• The straight smear node group got a full rework for blender 4.2 with all new controls

  • Notable mentions for the update:

    • If you want the smears to go in the opposite direction just make the strength negative.

    • The default name of the smear group will be 'Smear' to make it easier to have a standardized naming system.

    • All the other controls are relatively self-explanatory.

Known Bugs:

• I am aware of a bug where the straight smears do not appear when rendering and am looking for a fix but I believe that it is a problem with the way blender caches things. The only work around I have found is to turn motion blur on and if you don't want motion blur, just set the value really low to make it almost not noticeable. (This bug is fixed in the most recent version of the straight smears in blender 4.2+)
