Anatomic: Head Anatomy 3D Cheat Sheet

by CG Cookie in Models

*Requires Blender 2.81+

SETTINGS

These options are located at the BOTTOM of the addon panel. You will want to be mindful of them at the beginning but will likely interact less with them than the Layers.

Eyes Closed: Open and close the eye lids. This is mostly relevant for Skin labels on and surrounding the right eye.

Show Eyes: Toggle eyeball visibility ON or OFF as needed. When viewing the skeletal layer by itself you will want to hide the eyes to see all  labels in the ocular cavity.

Set Quality: VERY IMPORTANT. anAtomic depends on Eevee viewport rendering to display properly (either Material or Render view). There are 3 options for controlling the visual quality of the model that if set inappropriately can seriously lag Blender:

  1. Basic: Lowest quality setting for less-capable machines.

  2. Optimized: Middle-of-the-road quality. For example this mode runs well on a 2017 MacBook Pro.

  3. Maximum: The best visual quality with all of Eevee’s bells and whistles activated. This runs very poorly on a 2017 MacBook Pro.

LAYERS

These buttons are your main options for navigating the 4 anatomical layers.

Skeletal: The first of the 4 big buttons, this toggles visibility for all the skeletal layer.

Labels A: Primary skeletal labels for the various bones of the skull.

Labels B: Secondary skeletal labels for more detailed features of skeletal bones.

Color: Enables a color overlay for clearly distinguishing the various bones of the skull.

Nasal Cartilage: Toggles cartilage objects for the nose. Note that the labels for these objects are part of "Labels B".

Muscular: The second of the 4 big buttons, this toggles visibility for all the muscular layer.

Labels: Toggles labels for all muscles.

Halve: Hides the left half of the muscle layer.

X-Ray: Enables partial transparency for the muscles.

Fat Pads: The third of the 4 big buttons, this toggles visibility for all the fat layer.

Labels: Toggles labels for all fat pads.

Halve: Hides the left half of the fat layer.

X-Ray: Enables partial transparency for the fat pads.

Skin: The fourth of the 4 big buttons, this toggles visibility for all the skin layer.

Labels: Toggles labels for the skin.

Halve: Hides the right half of the skin in classic ecorche fashion.

X-Ray: Enables partial transparency for the skin.

WARNING: Avoid using UNDO (CTRL + Z) with this file. For example: If you select a muscle object and hide it, undo-ing that (or any) action will break the addon's ability to draw. To remedy such breakage simply run the script from the text-editor or revert the file.

*While this behavior is annoying and I'm still trying to figure out, UNDO isn't needed to use the ecorche scene effectively.
