3 Points Align
The usage is very simple please watch this VIDEO
Installation
- Go to Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install > select downloaded .py file and enable add-ons checkbox
- Add-on will be available in the 3D view in by pressing Alt+T hotkey (by default)
How to use
- Select two polygonal objects in order: Target (object to be aligned) and Source
- Run add-on by pressing Alt+T (by default)
- Draw 3 lines by connecting the target mesh vertices with the source mesh vertices.
- Press Enter to confirm Align
Available options (redo menu)
Match Distances | Match Distance 1 with Distance 2 by scaling the Target object. |
Show Origin | Show/Hide Target object origin. |
Set Transforms | Recalculate Target object transforms based on aligned surface and world axis. |
Center Origin | Works only with Set Transforms. Set origin to the center of mass of the Target object. |
Invert Origin | Works only with Set Transforms. Inverts the selected axis of origin. |
Tips
- Created line could be edited by clicking on one of the vertices.
- You can exist drawing line mode by pressing ESC/RMB.
- If the selection is incorrect (more/less then 2 objects, non polygonal objects), the add-on runs a selection validator with tips for user.
- If the selection is correct (2 polygonal objects) - the validator will be skipped.
- To don't get confused when drawing lines: think of the lines as rubber bands that squeeze when align confirmed.
