Birds are great to add life and realism to environments and architectural projects as well as animations. Good quality bird that is easy to animate and that looks fairly real is hard to come by simply because they are very hard and time-consuming to create. Especially their wings. Wings are super complex!

I created this stylized realistic crow to challenge myself into making a bird that I could easily animate and use in my own projects. Now that I have achieved my goal, I want to also share this bird with you all so you can also benefit from it.

This rig is very complex and took a lot of time and trial and error to achieve! Over 200 hrs went into making this crow! Think about it, if you'd pay a professional to do this for you at $30 to $60+/hr it would cost you over 6k to 12k + (Well, I am a professional early retired freelancer :P). This is a bargain, ready to animate and can also be edited (feet, head, wings, tail, entire rig can be scaled). The materials can also be easily edited to tweak the look if you need to turn up spec and such.

100% quads, a total of 57 525 verts, 30 316 faces, 60 632 tris at the lowest level (including the feathers) and 166 788 verts, 117 808 faces, 235 616 tris at the highest level (also including feathers). A total of 213 bones with lots of automation so you don't have to animate all those manually.

This rig is super easy to pose and animate. It is rigged with my own custom rig in a full body IK style. There are no animations associated with the rigged crow file.
