Procedural knitted wool shader. The shader alows you to use an image and it will make it look as it was knitted instead. You can also use a color, you have color variations settings to make it look more real.
To use it with displacement:
-Set the Cycles feature set to experimental, ad a subdvision surface modifier with adaptive subdivision and a dicing scale of 1 or 0.5
-On render settings subdivision change the viewport dicing to 2 or 1 pixel so you can see in preview something close to the render.
-On material settings surface make sure you have displacement set to "displacement only"
If you plan to use just the bump, leave the displacement set to "bump only"
SSS makes the render a lot longer so it's up to you, in cycles it makes a difference, I like it at 0.1 or 0.05.
On eevee you can add a bit more AO to help with the lack of real displacement.
Some of the settings:
Use color or an image
Color variations when using color
AO slider to help with the effect when using eevee
Optional Micro fibers on the texture
uneven slider to break the "perfect" pattern and give it a bit of a wavy look
