This add-on let's you easily level out a two or more vertices based on the active/last selected vertex and an axis of your choosing.

Simply select the vertices you wish to level out, the one that already is in the correct location last and press Ctrl + Shift + Alt + S. Select an axis in the pie-menu and you are done.
