Create more Blender projects more often

The #1 complaint we hear from students at cgcookie.com is not having enough time to create all the projects in their heads. While computer graphics projects can be remarkably complex and time-consuming, they don't have to be.

"Sessions" are blender projects designed to be created in 2 hours or less. By working smart, choosing an appropriate scope, and leveraging an arsenal of reliable techniques, anyone can create countless beautiful projects.

What you will learn from this course

We will explore 11 unique projects as course chapters. At just over 15 hours in total duration, each project averages 1.5 hours in creation time. Some are closer to 2 hours, some are shorter.

Sessions Vol I is actually a bundle of two courses: Minimalism and Macro. While they are distinct in theme, they're both built on the foundation of doing more with less.

Course 1: Minimalism

Minimalism pushes the concept of "less is more" as far as possible. These projects are great for beginners looking to jumpstart their creativity and skill development with Blender.

Projects range from:

  1. a cinematic space scene
  2. looping animated patterns
  3. a stylized graphic landscape
  4. abstract hallway
  5. brutalist museum
  6. large-scale fantasy environment.

Course 2: Macro

Based on macro photography, this theme is focused on up close realism. When a camera is close to relatively small objects, a beautiful thing happens: Bokeh blur. The blurring of everything out of focus makes our jobs as creators easier in achieving photorealism and encouraging us to apply effort where it matters most.

Projects include:

  1. a roll of dice
  2. a slow motion ocean
  3. dew drop on grass
  4. satisfying colored pencil loop animation
  5. a piano
  6. a laptop

What are students saying about Sessions?

Nathi Tappan ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I saw the trailer for this course on YT and it brought CG Cookie to my radar. It looked like gorgeous results with the promise of quick executions, I was all like: sign me up!

And that was the truth all around: I decided to learn Blender recently and these sessions were instrumental to keeping my motivation up. They are quick wins with gorgeous results, and chalk full of tips and techniques. Very cool to learn where we need to focus to get results, and where to focus to get them to look stunning even if there N-gons here and there.

I had a lot of fun with these and hope that Kent adds more Sessions later. Will definitely tackle the other Sessions course next.

Sébastien Lenaerts ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I loved how it forced to focus on a limited set of topics, forcing you to go beyond. It really helps the matter stick (I know it did for me)! The 2 hour mark did sometimes frustrate me as I so often decided to start over as I wasn't happy where I got. This series is like the gym coach helping you focusing on the right elements to get there.

Don't get me wrong, all CG cookie courses are top, but somehow the complexity of each project, makes that only a few elements really stick, and often it ain't the core elements that you need to really master. the minimalistic course just turns that around.

Nick Mladenov ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This course encapsulates exactly the things I've always wanted to learn how to create. Super happy that it came out a little after I discovered CGCOOKIE! There's lots of variety, great projects and of course, as always, Kent Trammell does an amazing job of explaining the entire process! Would recommend to absolutely anyone who has an interest in 3D Art.

Martin Aversa ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What can I say? No doubt who is winning the Suzanne award for best teacher this year. This course really cracked open a bit of my mind and the way I understand 3D art in general. The projects are all unique and fun to make, they look amazing and they only take less than 2 hours, that's insane!

Kent gives so many great tips for achieving realism without spending hours and hours modeling and adding detail. And time management skills too, like reusing old projects in smart ways, so you don't have extra work but it also doesn't look the same as before.

Another thing to note is the level of observation, studying reference photos to the smallest detail in the texture, so you can replicate it in blender, amazin'. I learned A LOT inside the shading workspace.

What are you doing today? Oh, ok, no... go and take the Sessions course!
