The course is pretty tough, but that's because it really gets in depth with the subject. Like anything else worth learning, you'll need to practice. It is really well thought out and is one of the best courses I've purchased for learning any subject. I feel like my rigging has really advanced just within the first 2 chapters.

Although the course is very high quality this is definitely, 100% NOT for beginners!
The skeleton has so many bone duplications that interact in complex ways, that it's very hard to understand the rig unless you already have a lot of experience rigging. If you stop to look at your rig for even a second you'll miss a lot in the video. I spent the better part of a week re-watching parts of the first two chapters to understand how all the pieces interact, then I got frustrated and left my rig alone for a couple of weeks; when I came back I couldn't remember how half the skeleton was set up.

I think the main problem is that the complex rigs are made to be used in near any studio situation imaginable, but just presented as-is in all their complexity. For example there are the deformer bones which instead of being animated directly are parented to a second skeleton, of which you have multiple copies of some parts, set up as IK or FK, with drivers and control bones to make the whole thing function. There's just no time taken to stop and learn each level of complexity, or how to use the rig that was made. As a beginner you do your best to keep up, and at the end you have a complex rig you barely understand, due to the sheer amount of information presented all at once.

As someone new to rigging I just want a straightforward course on how to get a solid basic rig and then work up from there. This feels like trying to learn orbital physics before learning algebra. (or trying to learn both at the same time maybe.)

Truly best Course for Rigging out there, its the price absolutly worth it! If you are looking for a Course where everything is explained in detail, but also explained well and takes you from total beginner to total advanced Rigger then this Course is it worth buying. I learned in this 3 days more than in 1 Year of trying finding whats the best Rigging Tutorial or Online Course for me. Pluralsight and Udemy are not Match for this Guy. He will make you know truly how to Rig, this Course is a godsend!

Like a few individuals I've had trouble understanding what's being said. With the subtitles enabled the issue is these are rapid fire sessions so pausing even a second to read means I'm missing a good portion of the example that's given. Also to further add to frustration, some of the addons that I've had to download to follow along no longer work as indicated in the video. The course is also labeled for beginners to advanced, but as a beginner I can tell you a lot of the examples requires a great deal more knowledge than any beginner has on hand. I feel more as if I'm just doing a monkey see monkey do formula rather than learning why I'm doing what I'm doing. Also in the time lapse videos the instructor seems to make tiny corrections without explanation that may have been helpful to a beginner if explained why said corrections were made. That being said, there is a great deal of knowledge here that even a beginner can unpack and you can always load the example rigs if yours for some reason doesn't work as the instructor's.

This is a great course. However, know that it requires a decent understanding of adding rig objects to existing models. I would recommend playing with shorter YouTube videos just prior to diving into this course. Pierrick is an EXPERT in this area and teaches us the RIGHT way to get the job done. He does have an accent, but we all need to understand how amazing it is that anyone would create a tutorial in a language outside of their native tongue. Major Kudos.

Great course! very detailed and well-explained. I like that Pierrick mentions which is the most complex mechanism we've made and that we're not going to be able to recreate everything first try without looking at references; that makes it very reassuring and motivates me to learn more.

I'm an 3D animator, I'm always had issues making Rigs myself, mostly because there was not any readily available guides on how to do it properly... I've tried Auto rigs Which Don't always work depending on the character or model I'm using. This Course is a god Send. I'm currently working on the 2nd chapter, and I cant wait to translate what I learned to the current characters I'm working with.

I can't tell you how Ecstatic I was when you showed how to Do a FK-IK Switch without programming. Been trying to figure out how to do that for months haha. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge with us!

A golden mine of information, i am only at the end of chapter 2 and as a beginner in rigging, i could perfectly understand the concepts and your workflow is efficient.I could integrate the concepts easily directly into my own rig and already thing about other kind of mechanisme which are possible with some technique. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I could not wait the final video to rate this course because it has already teach me so much to win my 5 stars rating. And about your accent, somme english mistakes but i did not care since i am a frenchy too lol . Very good course , i recommend and will recommend it .(Pierrick tu devrais proposer une version sous titrée pas des sous titres à rajouter, quand à la musique, bein t'as fait ce que t'as pu il y a juste la musique l'épique qui met une drôle d'ambiance j'ai l'impression d'attendre un boss de niveau par moment du coup ça fait décalé à l'ambiance studieuse des autres musiques sinon c'est top et le contenu est irréprochable tu vas vite et tant mieux,j'ai du faire des rewind à certains passage tricky ou j'ai loupé une info ou l'autre mais elle y est.) Donc bravo.
