Pattern Collection

Patterns are the easiest and the best way to bring life to our designs and make simple things to look beautiful and exceptional. It took me a couple of years of studies, research and hard work to build this digital collection:

This collection contains over 400 procedurally hand crafted in Substance 3D Designer, digital seamless BASE PATTERNS in their originally designed color set
+ additional grayscaled MASK for each. These MASKS are what makes this collection even more special, as they allow to create almost infinite amount of pattern variations.
(These are COLOR/ALBEDO maps + MASKS without full PBR texture setup, therefore require additional noise/bump/roughness textures to author and mimic certain surface types)

My intention when developing this collection, was to bring some of the most known and recognized patterns from different eras from around the world. None of these textures are pure 1:1 copy of these, but rather a procedural reconstruction variation.

While original ALBEDO colors can be shifted with HUE nodes to create different variation of the same pattern, its the MASK which can give incredible boost to our creativity here and allow to create our own variations of famous designs. It was designed for individual color re-authoring through COLOR RAMP node (just plug COLOR RAMP between texture output and pick any colours you like on the RAMP stripe).

Masks can be also used as OPACITY, ROUGHNESS, METALIC, BUMP/NORMAL or even to mix different material types. To get best results, I would also recommend to control them through COLOR RAMP node. Please dont forget to switch into LINEAR color mode when working with MASKS. While its also possible, I would not recommend to use MASKS as a height without pre-blurring as MASKS lack texture transition and might result with over-stretching.

- Tileable/seamless in all directions - allow for full rescaling in any direction
- 4k resolution (4096x4096px)
- stored as uncompressed PNG - 8bits for color and 16bits for MASK
- colors are PBR accurate and I did my best to make sure they match their original designs as close as possible

--------------- File Organisation -----------
For easier download all textures are archived in set of 7 - 1GB large ZIP files, which needs to be unzipped for individual textures to be extracted (Requires about 7GB of HDD space)
When UNZIPPED, patterns are organised/sorted based on their main shape/feature into directories:

Abstract (17), Animals (9), Checkers (13), Circles (59), Diagonals (29), Dots (8), Dynamics (20), Hexagonals (19), Lines (11), Mixed (23), Plants (31), Rectangular (39), Solid (5), Stars (5),
Stripes (31), Symbols (8), Tartan (9), Triangles (32), Waves (34)  - I really love working on materials and plan to keep working on this collection, so these are just initial numbers from the first release which might change with future product updates.

Each pattern follows the same naming convention*
Name (MASK)- OriginalAuthor - OriginCountry - DateOfDevelopment*
(for known and recognised patterns)
I added 'MASK' label for each pattern designed as mask - directly after its main name.

- None of these textures can be resold in their original form

- None of these can be used to train the AI

- Commercial use of these textures is permitted but nothing can be included in an asset pack or sold at any sort of asset/resource marketplace and must be embedded components in media such as a video game, movies, or similar products.

- The Product is protected by copyright laws and international copyright treaties, as well as other intellectual property laws and treaties. You are licensing the Product and the right to access, install and use the Product in accordance with this Agreement, not buying the Product. As between you and us, we own all right, title and interest in and to the Product, and you are not acquiring any ownership of or rights in the Product except the limited rights granted under this Agreement.

- If you are a corporate entity (Small Business License, Studio License), you may make the Product available for use by your employees in accordance with this Agreement (for example, by storing the Product on a network server).

- You may only share the Product with external people or entities where:

- You are collaborating with the external parties in the creation of your Work and you need to share the Product for that purpose, provided that any external party that receives the Product may only use it in your Work and must secure and limit access to the Product for that purpose;

- You are working as a contractor for a client in the creation of a Work and need to share the Product with your client, or any external parties working with your client, provided that your client and any such external parties may use the Product only for your client’s Work, and all parties secure and limit access to the Product for that purpose.

- For any other use of the Product by any other party, that party must purchase a licence to the Product.

- In addition to any other restrictions in this Agreement, you will not:
publish, sell, license, train AI, offer or make available for sale or licensing, or otherwise distribute the Product except as part of a Work or through a form of sharing that is authorized in this Agreement; or publish, distribute or make available the Product through any online clearinghouse platform.

- By purchasing this product you dont buy copyright to any design, just right to use these textures in your CG art. To get rights to these designs, you need to contact their original author or their representives directly.
