Hair Modeller

by Blender Easy in Modifier Setups

Introducing the Hair Modeller Tool
A powerful solution for generating hair based on the surface distance between two objects. This tool provides a quick and efficient way to add hair to your characters by simply sculpting it. You can also generate hair by positioning an object close to the surface object, offering flexibility and precision.

The Hair Modeller gives you complete control over the hair creation process, allowing you to adjust hair density, radius, clumping, frizz, and more—all in one place. Whether you're creating hair, fur, or a beard, this tool simplifies and speeds up the process, making it ideal for both beginners and professionals.

How to Use

  1. Add the Hair Modeller to Blender:
Place the Hair Modeller tool in your Assets Library folder and restart Blender to load it.

  2. Create the Hair Base:

    • In Blender, go to Add > Curves > Empty Hair and add this to the surface object where the hair will grow.
  3. Assign the Hair Modeller Modifier:

    • Select the newly added curves.
    • Open the Modifiers tab, click Add Modifier, and locate the Hair Modeller under the Unassigned section.
  4. Set the Surface and Sculpted Objects:

    • In the Hair Modeller modifier, assign:
      • Surface Object: The object where the hair strands originate.
      • Sculpted Object: The object defining the end points of the hair strands.

Important: Both objects must have identical topology and subdivisions. Essentially, the Sculpted Object should be a modified version of the Surface Object to define the hair's shape and direction.

  5. Optional Adjustments:

    • Use any object to generate the hair, but for better results, you might need to enable the voxelize feature.
    • Reduce viewport density while sculpting to improve performance.

Texture Mapping

To map textures to the hair:

  1. Enter the name of the UV map from the Surface Object in the UV Name field of the Hair Modeller modifier.
  2. In the Shader Editor, add an Attribute node and input the same UV name.
  3. Connect the Vector output of the Attribute node to the Vector input of your textures for proper mapping.

With the Hair Modeller, you can bring your characters and creatures to life with realistic and customizable hair workflows. Whether you're creating flowing locks, fluffy fur, or scruffy beards, this tool gives you the power and flexibility to achieve professional results quickly and efficiently.
